ADONIS HOME

Residential
Interior Design
Singapore

Adonis Home, a 167-square-metre private residence nestled within the leafy enclave of River Valley, Singapore, is a meticulously crafted sanctuary completed in 2025. Conceived as a poetic interplay of cultural nuance, sculptural form, and contemporary elegance, the home redefines modern apartment living through its masterful synthesis of material richness and spatial storytelling. At its core, the project is an exploration of serenity: a residence where refined oriental sensibilities meet the clients’ expressive artistic identity, producing an interior that feels deeply personal yet universally resonant.

The design begins with an orchestrated arrival sequence that signals the project’s overarching commitment to craftsmanship and narrative depth. The entrance foyer is anchored by a pair of antique Chinese panels adorned with intricately carved bat motifs—timeless symbols of good fortune. Rather than serving merely as decorative artefacts, these panels are elevated into architectural elements that establish a sculptural threshold between the outside world and the home’s inner sanctum. Their historical gravitas is balanced by a contemporary spatial clarity, creating a moment of calm anticipation as one transitions inward.

Emerging from the foyer, the home reveals a sweeping vista framed by lush greenery and the unit’s zen garden balcony—an intentional gesture that blurs the boundary between interior tranquillity and the natural world beyond. The architectural plan’s inherently curved profile becomes a defining opportunity rather than a constraint. Instead of rectifying the curvature, the design amplifies it, turning it into the project’s most distinctive architectural expression.

This arcs gracefully through the space via a sweeping ceiling line articulated with finely spaced timber slats. The slatted ceiling does more than visually unify the living, dining, and display areas—it creates a sense of movement, rhythm, and breath across the interior. Its gentle curvature guides the eye and body, fostering a fluid spatial experience that transforms the apartment’s geometry into an artistic gesture. Soft shadows filter between the slats throughout the day, adding a quiet dynamism that enriches the ambience.

At the heart of the communal zone stands a commanding Nero Picasso marble feature wall. Its dramatic veining and painterly composition imbue the space with visual depth and refined intensity. Three floating metal shelves, subtly illuminated by warm backlighting, sit in elegant contrast against the stone’s dark tones. These shelves form a curated gallery for the clients’ treasured pottery, artefacts, and spirits—objects that encapsulate memory, craftsmanship, and cultural identity. Their display elevates personal possessions into a central narrative thread of the home, celebrating individuality within a cohesive design language. Below, a black solid-wood dining table paired with matching leather chairs grounds the space with quiet strength, embodying a minimalism that is both purposeful and luxurious.

The corridor leading to the private quarters demonstrates the home’s meticulous attention to detail and refined spatial choreography. A concealed mirror door marks the entrance to the master suite, extending the perception of depth while preserving the corridor’s clean, uninterrupted lines. This subtle design move exemplifies the project’s ethos: beauty expressed through restraint, precision, and intention.

Inside the master bathroom, the bold use of Verde St. Denis marble introduces a rich, immersive layer of colour. Its vivid green tones create a striking yet sophisticated counterpoint to the home’s earthy palette. Adjacent to it, reeded glass delineates the bathroom from the bedroom, producing a captivating interplay of light, texture, and abstraction. Colours shift and refract through the glass, transforming silhouettes into poetic blurs—a living artwork that evolves with the time of day.

Rounding off the suite is a sliding artwork that conceals the walk-in wardrobe. This integration of art and architecture encapsulates the project’s holistic design narrative: functional elements are elevated, concealed, and transformed into moments of aesthetic delight.

In its totality, Adonis Home stands as an exemplar of contemporary Asian luxury—subtle, soulful, and exquisitely composed. Through its fusion of cultural resonance, sculptural detail, material opulence, and personal storytelling, the residence transcends convention to become a timeless, award-worthy expression of modern living.
