A CANVAS FOR LIVING
Residential
Interior Design
Singapore
This home for a young family in Katong is a gentle setting where life unfolds naturally. It embraces the energy, creativity, and mess of childhood, allowing play, art, and everyday rituals to leave their marks. More than a residence, it is a living canvas—shaped continuously by the family’s rhythms, growth, and memories, evolving with them over time.
The rituals of everyday life are celebrated in this home: Coming home, dropping your bags, taking of your shoes, working, playing, eating, and sleeping.

Materiality were picked and detailed as a logical expression of their functions while providing a muted, but textured backdrop for furniture, artwork, objects, and even toys. An umber textured counter-top for breakfast. A muji-like use of timber slates and cabinets for a warm feeling. Hard cold steel and tiles for a functional kitchen. Reeded glass for bringing in light while still providing privacy. A steel-cladded column for magnets to post calendar reminders. Highly scrub-able terracotta tiles for the yard area. They all exist for a function. And with it. Their beauty.

Two bedrooms were combined for a large co-sleeping situation. The unfinished surface where the wall once was, was replaced with pebblewash, which was also used for the entrance threshold of the house.
